Epcot Flower and Garden Festivals

We love going every spring to see the flowers and topiaries on display.

Joanie’s Flowers

Each country around the World Showcase at Epcot has floral

displays and topiaries that go along with their country.

Several of the princesses are done as topiaries and featured

in the country where the story originated. The countries

also feature displays of flowers to go along with some of

the store offerings near them.

Bambi, Flower and Thumper usually show up

outside the entrance to the Canada pavilion.

In England we find Winnie the Pooh and friends, Peter Pan

with Captain Hook and the alligator, and Mary Poppins.

One of my favorite places in the England section is the gardens behind the tea shop. There they have

very large teacups in which they have planted the herbs that are in some of the blends of their Bigelow

teas. The teabag “tag” next to the cup tells what the tea is, and what the plants are that are included

in the cup.

Moving toward France, we find some of the princesses dancing with their princes. Cinderella and

Aurora are normally the princesses featured here. As we get further into the country of France, we

find Beauty and the Beast with all of the other main characters from the movie.

From time to time, the displays in France

include topiaries in the shape of classic

perfume bottles. Often there are displays

of aromatic flowers that are used in

blending some of the well-known French

perfumes. Their garden is truly elegant.

As we move around the World Showcase, we find Lady and the Tramp sitting among the flowers in

an Italian garden. The Italian pavilion is full of baskets of flowers, and hanging baskets and

planters scattered throughout the square.

Although we don’t have photos of them here, it is a must-see stop to look at the bonsai

garden in the Japan area. These trees are amazing and true works of art. Usually on

the edge of the grounds, there is some sort of water feature or bamboo fountain. And

often there is a small serenity garden display as well.

Our next stop is in Germany. Snow

White and the Seven Dwarfs reside here.

Can you name all of the Dwarfs?

The China pavilion is

next. Here we find a

wonderful topiary

panda bear enjoying

bamboo shoots for

lunch.

Our final stop is at the Norway pavilion.

They have a wonderful topiary of one of

their legendary trolls.

Again, we don’t have photos, but you’ll find a lovely display of orchids at the Mexico pavilion. Take

the walk back toward where the character meet up place is for Donald Duck and you will see beautiful

orchids growing on the trees. It is a feast for the eye.

The entire park is decorated for the Flower and Garden festival. During this time of the year, the trees are

in bloom, and the gardeners have all of the bushes and hedges trimmed perfectly. The grassy areas around

the lake are all lined with flower beds in dramatic shapes, and of course, there are hidden Mickey’s in the

flower beds. There are usually floating planters in other water around the park, so the added colors are a

feast for the eye. And Disney always has gardens that feature new growing or landscaping techniques, and

offers seminars by nationally known garden experts as well as their horticulturists on how to make your

home landscaping even better.
